Drama 3 Monologue Assignment
- Students should work in partners on their monologues.
- First, they should work in partners and use the exercise of read and improvise, read and improvise, etc. with each partner taking turns.
- Write a summary of what is happening in each beat. This is different than what they did in class on Tuesday on the first page of their monologue packet which was write down any observations that the actor had about the text of the monologue. Now the student should write a summary of what the character is actually saying in each beat, with the actor writing it in his or her own words.
- Next, the students should write down a list of key lines that seem to important to the character. Also write down a list of images, pictures, or thoughts that come to the actor’s mind when he or she speaks the lines.
Turn in both of these papers on Monday, January 23 (the summary of each beat and the list of key lines and the list of images, pictures, and thoughts).
