French 3 students will be continuing their study of the passé compose and how to form it: with an auxiliary verb and a past participles. They are learning to discern which auxiliary verb s go with which verbs. The Vandertramps and the Reflexive verbs use être and all other verbs use avoir. They are having a quick assessment Monday or Tuesday on this concept. They are also beginning to learn yet another past tense—l’imparfait—which is a past tense reflecting verbs whose action continue in the past. It does not represent an action which starts and stops in the past. It is one of the easier tenses in French because it only has 1 irregular verb—être. They will have a Performance Task on this tense entitled “Quand j’étais petit(e)—When I was young…” They will write 7 sentences in a book they create showing what they used to do when they were little. Students are also learning vocabulary for Unit 1.
