AP French--le 28 novembre au 2 décembre

AP ladies are working on vocabulary this week.  They will be having a vocabulary test on Wednesday, 11/30.  They have also chosen a French business to study, and will be making presentations on Thursday, Dec. 8th.  History-wise, they are studying Francois 1er, Henri IV, Louis the 13th and 14th, and the French Revolution.  They will be working on the French idiom illustrations through pages 349 for Friday.  Grammar instruction will include relative pronouns from the simple to the difficult. 

Honors French 4--le 28 novembre au 2 décembre

Honors Frenchf 4 students will be reviewing adjectives and adverbs this week.  They will also be doing a writing prompt:  they will be asked to write an alternative ending to the Film Clip:  J'attends le suivant.  They will also choose cities to study.  Bordeaux and Lyons have already been chosen.  The remaining student needs to choose his city.  Presentations of Cities will take place next Tuesday, 12/6.  They will also be learning about people from the Galérie des Créateurs.

Honors French 3--le 28 novembre au 2 décembre

Students will spend the first days' classes reviewing what they probably forgot during vacation.  Blue day classes will have a Unit 2 vocabulary test.  All classes will have a review of the imperfect tense and of reflexive verbs.  Classes will also spend time in the language lab practicing on internet activities dealing with Units 1 and 2 from their textbook, using www.quia.com. To review both of those chapters they can also go to highered.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0078791480/ for practice.  Wednesday and Thursday they will continue their JIGSAW reading about French teenagers and their attitudes towards life.  Blue day will have a verb test on Friday 12/2, and white day will have the same test on Monday, 12/5.  It will deal with the imperfect only.

French 2--le 28 novembre au 2 décembre

French 2 classes are reviewing what they might have lost during vacation.  Classes reviewed vocabulary and lui and leur.  They also reviewed some vocabulary words.  The first classes back were devoted to listening to Muzzy, to see if their grammar and vocabulary skills have helped their listening skills improve.  This week they will also continue to learn new vocabulary words.  They will also learn new conjugations:  the reflexive verbs which use je me, tu te, il/elle/on se, nous nous, vous vous, and ils/elles se in the conjugations.  So the conjugation of se laver looks like this:  je me lave, tu te laves, il/elle/on se lave, nous nous lavons, vous vous lavez, ils/elles se lavent.  There will be many practice exercises dealing with this concept, and eventually the students will have a performance task dealing with reflexives.

Next French Club Meetings

The next French Club meetings will be the next 2 Tuesdays, Nov. 29th and Dec. 6th.  We are hoping that the T-shirts will be in finally.  Bring a canned good to the meeting.

le 7 novembre au 11 novembre--AP and Honors French 4

This week the AP ladies will be working with new vocabulary dealing with the business world, they will be reviewing the OIR verbs, they will be reading in Lisons Comme Ca, 3 sections of French History; they will do ex. 1-4, on page 336 in their textbook  and workbook page 88, ex. 1-3.  They will have a writing prompt, needing to answer 1 question on textbook page 314 by writing 10 sentences.  They will be having a major verb test next Thursday, 11/17. 

The Honors French 4 gentlemen will continue working on reflexives and vocabulary.  They are having a Unit 2 vocabulary test on Tuesday.  They will be reviewing adjectives and learn how to form adverbs from adjectives.  They will also have instruction on the BANGS (beauty, age, number, greatness, and size) adjectives which come before the noun they modify instead of after as most adjectives do. They will have a writing prompt also.

Le 7 novembre au 11 novembre--Honors French 3

Honors French 3 students will be working with their 9 negatives this week, re-take a test on the passe compose and the subjunctive,work on learning all the vocabulary on the Unit 2 sheet (Blue Day will be taking a vocabulary test on Friday.), and review the conjugation of reflexives in all tenses and moods.  The Honors 3 classes need to become more self-disciplined and start reviewing what they learn in class.

le 7 novembre au 11 novembre--French 2

French 2 classes this week will be finishing their Big Body projects, take a body parts quiz, and have a great number of new vocabulary words to learn. For Thursday, 2nd block will have a substitute work packet to complete.  There will be workbook activities (page 11, ex. 1-3, and page 12, ex. 4-5 to complete to support the new vocabulary. Students will be writing reflections on their results for the first 9 weeks assessment.  Students will also be learning 2 new verbs:  souffrir and ouvrir.  DON'T FORGET THAT THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY, 11/8, AND WEDNESDAY, 11/9, WILL BE A WHITE DAY.

le 31 octobre au 4 novembre--Honors French 4 and AP French Language

Honors French 4 is working on learning their City Vocabulary.  They will be finishing their created cities on Friday.  They continue to study their city-based vocabulary.  They are also reviewing reflexive verbs.

The AP French Language class is entering the strange world of business vocabulary.  They are also being introduced to present and perfect participles.  Along with this they are learning idiomatique phrases to help make their language colorful. They are also studying the subjunctive. One of their idioms is: bouche bée which means "to be surprised."

LE 31 OCTOBRE AU 4 NOVEMBRE--HONORS FRENCH 3

The Honors French 3 class is studying a Unit dealing with teenage life.  They are learning how to create sophisticated questions and how to make sentences negative other than by using ne(n')....pas.  They have a great deal of vocabulary they should be studying.  They have also been assigned some workbook exercises.  Both classes learned about how and if the French celebrate Halloween.  They will soon be learning some French teenage slang called D'jeunes.
