AP French Language--le 12 au 16 décembre

AP ladies worked on relative pronouns today, learning ce dont and the fact that a past participle agrees with a preceding direct object.  They did a worksheet on the above, and then continued their reading of French History--Napoleon and the end of the Kings of France.  On Wednesday they will be presenting their business research, and on Friday, besides receiving their study guides for next Tuesday's midterm, will be taking an assessment on French idioms, proverbs, and French history (up to the First World War).

Honors French 4--le 12 au 16 décembre

Honors French 4 is taking a very difficult Unit 2 exam today.  They are also beginning to learn Unit 3 words on the Media in France. They will be giving their presentations on a French city on Wednesday, and will receive their midterm study guide on Friday.  Their midterm is next Tuesday, 12/20 at 8:30AM.  Part of their grammar instruction for this new Unit involves reviewing the past tense in French.  Since they have been studying this since French 2, it should not be a hard issue with which to deal.

Honors French 3--le 12 au 16 décembre

Last Friday and today French 3 classes had major summative assessments on Unit 2 from their book.  They will be getting their scores sometime this week.  They have also received new vocabulary sheets, and they need to learn the first 10 words for next class.  They are learning that the subjunctive also follows after statements of emotion, and will start learning about French attitudes towards sporting activities.  2nd Block blue has their Midterm on Tuesday, 12/20, and 1st block white has their Midterm on Monday, 12/19.  Both groups will receive study guides the class meeting before the test.

French 2--le 12 au 16 décembre

French 2 is learning about commands this week.  They are also continuing to work with reflexive verbs.  Blue class has a reflexive verb meaning quiz today, and white class has the same tomorrow.  Both groups will be working on their SMOOSH books of daily activities for which they have to write and illustrate at least 5 reflexive sentences.  Blue class's books are due on Friday, and white day's books are due on 12/17. 2nd block white class will be receiving study guides for their 12/19 midterm on this Thursday.  3rd block white will get theirs next Monday and 3rd block blue will get their midterm study guides on Tuesday, 12/20.

3rd block blue on Wednesday will be having a substitute, because I have an in-service that afternoon.

AP French--le 5 au 9 décembre

This class will have a substitute on Tuesday, 12/6.  On Thursday, they will do the following:  work on learning 2 pages of French proverbs, read about Napoleon Bonaparte and the last Kings of France, work in their textbook, page 318, ex.1.  They will be presenting their research on a French business on Monday, 12/12. 

Honors French 4--le 5 au 9 décembre

This class will only meet once this week due to an inservice have on Tuesday.  They will have a substitute.  On Thursday, they will presenting the city they chose to research, work on finishing their alternate ending for the movie clip, and have a study guide for the Unit 2 Assessments which they will take on Monday, 12/12.

French 3--le 5 au 9 décembre

This is a rather interesting week for French 3 students, at least for the Blue Day class on Tuesday, because I have a 1/2 day inservice and will not be in class.  This is what we will be doing this week:  learning about French teenagers attitudes about family, friends, pasttimes, values, and feminism.  We will also be learning about French slang, specifically the Djeun's language and the use of verlan.  White Day will have a quiz on the imperfect on 12/07, and Blue Day will have the same quiz on 12/08.  Then the White Day class will be having major Unit 2 assessments on Friday, 12/09, and Blue Day on Monday, 12/12.

Midterm Exam Schedule 12/19-12/22

Monday, 12/19, white day:  Midterms 1st and 2nd blocks, classes 3rd and 4th blocks

Tuesday, 12/20, blue day:  Midterms 1st and 2nd blocks, classes 3rd and 4th blocks

Wednesday, 12/21, white day: 3rd and 4th block midterms; school ends at 11:30

Thursday, 12/22, blue day: 3rd and 4th block midterms; school ends at 11:30

Friday, 12/23--NO SCHOOL.  START ENJOYING YOUR BREAK!  I KNOW I WILL!

French 2--le 5 au 9 décembre

This week the students will continue to learn about reflexives and how to conjugate them:  je me, tu te, il/elle/on se, nous nous, vous vous, and ils/elles se.  They will have both workbook and textbook exercises to support their learning about reflexives:  workbooks page R33, Karim's daily activities; and textbook, page R52.  They will also learn about a Performance Task:  the creation of SMOOSH books which will illustrate their daily activities, with the requirement of using at least 5 reflexive verbs.

Next week we will be preparing for Midterm Exams.  The schedule for French 2 is:  Monday, 12/19, 2nd block takes their Midterm.  Wednesday, 12/21, 3rd block white takes their exam, and on Thursday, 12/22, 3rd block blue takes their exam.
