Tuesday, I have a sub due to my attendance at an inservice at school. The class will work on absolute value functions, graphing piecewise functions  and review for the minitest.

Wednesday, I am in class this day and the class will study the piecewise functions with an activity.

Algebra 3 March 27- April 1, 2011

Today, we wrap up the unit 5 test and start unit 6. Topics covered in unit 6 include  n( 6.1) Angles and Measures, Coterminal Angles and the switch between radians and degrees.

 I am in an inservice for 2nd today and 3rd block will work on the worksheets from Monday's lesson. Third block may do a project with the logarithm applications too.

Wednesday

The class reviews the Monday topics and checks the work from Tuesday's worksheets. We study (6.2) the six trig functions with an introduction to the functions, then finding all other trig functions given one trig function.

Thursday

A look at 6.2 right triangle Trigonometry, finding all sides and angles of a given triangle. The class will review for a quiz on unit 6A.This concept is only a bonus on the quiz, so full mastery can be obtained with class practice the next day.

Math 2- week of 03/14/2011

Tutoring this week:

Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, I have a commitment at the hospital on Friday afternoon.

 Monday

It is a white day and the class will take a minitest number 3 for unit 4 ( statistics and data analysis). the class will do a review sheet first and then they will take the minitest. After all minitests are taken and graded, the 3 grades will be averaged together for one test grade ( a summative assignment).

Tuesday/ Wednesday ( blue/white)

Today, the students receive chunk tests back and make corrections with a partner. Remember you can retake any test for a higher degree of mastery.   We begin unit 5 with the study of  linear piecewise functions,the class will do a task with the concept first.

Happy Pi Day, you shall eat lots of circular and spherical food today.

The class finishes the unit 4 test and they work on the creation of a conic picture.

The lesson today is sections 5.1 and 5.2, no graphing yet. We explore the number " e" and logarithms and natural log. The lesson will relate to properties of exponents and the use of "e".

We classify conics using a formula and a chart of conditions. Also,we transform a conic in standard from to graphing form and then graph the conic. The lesson will include completing the square.
