Tutoring this week: Tuesday and Thursday mornings and Friday afternoon
Assessments: None this week
Monday/ Tuesday
Today, we start the new unit on standard deviation, a way to compare sets of data or a set of data. The class starts with the anticipation guide and a review of mean. We will look at population standard deviation. I think you will like this unit as there are a couple of formulas to know and apply.
HW: none, as some students may not have a calculator
Help: http://www.mathsisfun.com/data/standard-deviation.html ( the dog comparisions)
http://easycalculation.com/statistics/standard-deviation.php ( standard deviation calculator for sample and population)
Wednesday/ Thursday
Today, we move along today in our unit to comparing the standard deviation of two sets of population data. In class, we interpret the two sets of data in terms of mean and standard deviation. If time allows, we move along to interpreting a line plot.
HW: Wrap up of the class worksheet related to comparing data sets ( collected from class)
Help: http://www.childrensmercy.org/stats/definitions/stdev.htm ( Empirical Rule too here)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvDqbzu0i0E (the procedure is a little different from class, yet if you understand this method, you can use it)
Friday/ Monday
We are moving along in the unit, looking at a comparison of samples today. We will learn how to calculate sample standard deviation ( one change from population standard deviation).
HW: None, Super Bowl weekend, enjoy

Have a great weekend blue day and hope you had a great one white day
