EQ: How does drama shape my opinion on society? How is a play similar to and different from a novel, short story, or a poem? How are comedies and tragedies alike and different? How does a playwright use dramatic elements to create and enhance a play? What strategies can we employ to make sense out of the Elizabethan language Shakespeare plays are writtten? How does reading drama affect the decisions I make in my life? Where do we find Shakespeare today?
Silent Reading-Students will read silently for approximately 15 minutes. Students will be given an assignment at the end of two weeks to reflect their reading skills.
Journal/Daily Writing- Students will complete a daily journal assignment given by the teachers. Example Journal Topics: Do you believe in love at first sight? Would you date someone that your parents don't approve of and against their will? Do you think revenge is an option when someone has wronged you or your family?
Students will complete second semester 9th Literature PRE-Test.
Drama Unit
Students will start introduction material to Romeo & Juliet. (Servalis)
Students will finish watch movie “Shakespeare in Love”……Complete Critical Thinking Questions and Answer & Six sequence graphic organizer. Students will illustrate six scenes from “Shakespeare in Love”. Each scene helps describe Shakespeare’s inspiration behind writing Romeo & Juliet.

1) Read Act I & II from play “Romeo & Juliet” adapted version.
2) Complete study guide for Act I & Act II & III.
3) Possibly watch Acts I & II from the 1967 version of the play.
4) Review Vocabulary I words and take Vocabulary I quiz for Drama Unit…
