1) Students will read for 15 minutes each day for Sustained Silent Reading (SSR). Each student can bring a book from home as long as it is approved by teachers. Also, students have an option of choosing a book for the bookshelf in the classroom.
2) Short Story Terms- Students were given short-story terms for the short-story unit as a review and . Here are the list of the words below:
plot , character, setting, theme, conflict (7 types), climax, point of view, short story, prose, irony, allusion, antagonist, dramatic irony, exposition, foreshadowing, genre, inference, mood, protagonist, symbol, narrative hook...
3) Students will finish reading "The Most Dangerous Game"... from new literature book.
4) Activator: Journal prompt:

Have you ever lost something that belonged to someone else? If so, what happened? If not, has someone ever lost something you let them borrow? |
5) Students will complete "The Most Dangerous Game" storyboards.
6) Students will start reading "The Necklace"....
7) We will read "The Necklace aloud, stopping for comprehension and clarification questions...until the end of the story.
8) Students will write an alternate ending to "The Necklace"....
