1) Students will read for 15 minutes each day for  Sustained Silent Reading (SDR). Each student can bring a book from home as long as it is approved by teachers. Also, students have an option of choosing a book for the bookshelf in the classroom.

2) Teachers will introduce writer through power-point presentation on Edgar Allen Poe and his short story "The Cask of Amontillado"....

 

3) Students will complete reading warm-ups for "The Cask of Amontillado"...

 

4) Students will write a journal about how to conceal "The perfect murder"...

 

5) Students will complete present a EOCT workshop by using the EOCT coach books...We will discuss the first three "chapters" taking notes and practicing answering and discussing questions.

5) Introduce Edgar Allen Poe and his works "The Cask of Amontillado". Also, introduce the vocabulary for this short story. Students will be assigned a power-point vocabulary activity. Students will be paired in groups to present one vocabulary word from the list including the origin of the word, picture, synonyms, antonyms, sentence, etc... 

6) Students will take a Short Story Vocabulary Test over "The Cask Amontillado" Vocabulary Ex: connoisseurship, revenge, cask, amontillado....

7) Students will do philosophical chairs over main conflict issues in "The Cask of Amontillado". This activity will be done with individual white boards. Students will respond to questions in reference to statements related to "The Cask of Amontillado". Ex: Revenge is ok when someone has hurt you or your family.

8) Students will read "The Cask of Amontillado".....

9) Students will take Comprehensive Test over "The Cask of Amontillado" from workbook.

Any classwork that is not completed in class will be HOMEWORK!! Students that don't have the opportunity to finish vocabulary powerpoint project in class can come after school to use computer lab to complete assignment.

5) Students will be introduce to Guy de Maupassant writer of the "The Necklace" and vocabulary words from "The Necklace".

5) Students will watch old version of "The Most Dangerous Game" movie (1966) and "Surviving the Game". They will compare and contrast the movies, and original short story on a venn diagram.
