Students will utilize USA test-prep for reviewing for the EOCT....
Teachers will present power-point propaganda.....Ex: Transfer, Repetition, Glittering, Bandwagon, etc...Students will complete 1-10 worksheet; they will determine which advertisement is aligned with the proper propaganda.
Students will complete advertisement analysis activity. They have to find an example of each type of propaganda in a magazine, write down the product, and an explanation of their answer.
Students will complete non-fiction unit notes assignment. This activity will help student familiarize themselves with non-fiction material. Example: Memoirs, Biographies, Auto-biographies, Essays, Articles, etc….
Students need to read “Before Hip Hop was Hip Hop” By: Rebecca Walker on p. 431-438. Then students need to answer questions on p. 439 Critical Thinking 1-4; and Types of Nonfiction Review 1-2. They don’t need to write the questions, but answer questions in complete thought.
Students can create a popular culture timeline/collage of the Hip Hop using the magazines from the magazine box or they can draw pictures to complete their timeline. They need to identify key events in pop culture history, adding details using music, fashion from each decade, and even faddish lingo from each decade.
