Week of January 24th-28th
Silent Reading-Students will read silently for approximately 15 minutes. Students will be given an assignment at the end of two weeks to reflect their reading skills.
Journal/Daily Writing- Students will complete a daily journal assignment given by the teachers. Example Journal Topics: Who are you favorite Hip Hop artist and Why? How has Hip Hop influence American Culture? Which decade was most influential during the Hip Hop Era? Do you think that Hip Hop will continue to flourish in the next 10 years, and Why?
Grammar, Poetry, and Short Story review on USA Prep-Test.
Students will start introduction material to Romeo & Juliet. (Servalis)
Students will read excerpts for the book "The Pact". (Morris)
Students will complete "Before Hip Hop was Hip Hop" By: Rebecca Walker.
Students will present the Before Hip Hop was Hip Hop Non-fiction project. Students will be given a rubric on Monday & Tuesday. Teachers will review the rubric for the project so that students will know all the expectations for the assignment. Project will count approximately 400 points for Part I & II and 100 points for presenting for a total of 500 points.
