March 28th-April 1st

Comprehensive Art- Students will be reviewing Non-Western art. On Monday/Tuesday students will complete a review sheet for the quiz on Wednesday/Thursday. STudents will also be completing their Chinese Landscapes. They are loving this process and the results are coming out great!

Photography-Students have their food shoot due on Wednesday for presentation. All of their
Photoshop assignments will be due for grades on Wednesday. They will then be introduced to the next Photoshop assignment, Wee People. Today students were introduced to a long term project in which they have to use their printed photos in a creative way Download Presentation Projects. The handout gives some ideas and options but students are also encouraged to come up with their own creation to be cleared by Ms. Lyle. Friday students will work on their Wee People assignment as well as  sketches and plans for their presentation project.

Ceramics- The kiln is firing and will be unloaded on Tuesday during class. Some students still need to finish their slab vase. Others will begin glazing or cold decortating their effigy vessels. Students will complete the outside decoration of their effigy vessels on Thursday. We will critique these after spring break.

March 21st-25th

Comprehensive Art- This week we will continue our study of Non-Western art by looknig at and discussing art from China. We will focus on landscapes and the use of atmospheric perspective to create a greater sense of space within the composition. Download Chinese Art and Culture. Students will create their own Chinese landscape. Download Chinese Landscapes. We will have our Non-Western art quiz and notebook check next Wednesday(30th) for white day and Thursday(31st)for blue day.

Photography-This week students are working on a food shoot. It will be due next Wednesday the 30th for critique. Download Food Photography. In class, students will be working on a Photoshop assignment, rejected movie poster.

Ceramics- A few people are still finishing up their trompe l'oeils. Those that are done are starting slab vases with texture. Download Ultra-Thin, Textured Slab Built Vase. Don't forget to bring your items from home to create texture!!!

March 14-18th

Comprehensive Art- We are continuing our unit on Non-Western art by looking at Japanese and Chinese Art this week.  For Japanese art we will be creating ink wash paintings known as Sumi-e paitings. These are simple and usually capture the beauty of nature. Friday, students will begin Chinese Landscapes focusing on atmoprsheric perspective.

Photography- Students are currently working on silhouettes and shadows shoot. In class, they are woring on a " You are what you eat" Photoshop assignment. S & S shoot is due in class on Friday.

Ceramics-Students are currently working on trompe l'oeils. This means "to trick the eye" in French. Students are creating a life like object out of clay. Students are creating everything from phones and iPODS to cupcakes and candy. These are due at the end of class on Friday for bisque firing.
