October 31st-November 4th

Comp Art- This week students will complete their clay cartouche by adding low relief hieroglyphic letters. We will then jump into the element of art, value. Download Value Students will practice shading techniques by creating value scales using blending, cross hatching, and stippling. Students will then create a still life drawing and add value to create forms.

Photography-Students will present their night shoot for critique on WEdnesday. Students will also begin their macro shoot outside of class. This will be due on 11/17 for critique. Download Too-close-for-comfort

Ceramics-Students are continuing their ribbon pots inspired by Greek pottery. Students should be done building these on the 10th and we will underglaze them on the 14th.

October 24th-28th

Comp art- This week we will be focusing on Egypt in art history and making our very own cartouches for art production. We will be creating these cartouches with clay. Students will create a bas relief cartouche. Bas relief is when figures or other elements are projecting from a mostly flat background. A cartouche is an Egyptian name plate in hieroglyphics. Photography- Currently students are working on a night shoot outside of class. This shoot will be due for compiling on Monday, 10/31 and for presentation on Wednesdat, 11/2. Download Night for tips and procedures.

Ceramics-Students will begin ribbon pots this week after looking at Greek Pots. They should design a pot inspired by Greek vases and pitchers.  Download Ribbon Pots

October 17th-21st

Comp Art- This week students will complete their 1 point perspective drawings on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday we will review what we have learned so far this semester to prepare for the 9 weeks assessment which will take place on Friday and Monday. We will also begin to look at Egyptian art and create our very own cartouche. Download Egyptian Art

Photography-Monday students will compile their action shoot for presentation. We will present these for critique on Wednesday. Our 9 weeks assessment will also be on Wednesday. Students will have a study guide to study with. Friday we will look at apeture and how to capture night photography.

Ceramics-Students are still working on their slab conatiner with a lid. They should finish these on Thursday. We are firing the kiln every other day to get our slump plates back as soon as possible. Students will also have their 9 weeks test on Thursday. It will cover key vocabulary and processes learned thus far.

October 10-14

Comprehensive-This week we are focusing on the element of art, space. Students are drawing a city street in 1 point perspective. Download Space Go to the website on the last slide for a step by step video.

Photography- We are continuing to work on action Photography in class, however, students should be working outside of class to complete this shoot for compiling next Monday and presentations on Wednesday. Ceramics- Students are building slab containers. They can create a cube with a theme or create a shape of their choice such as a star or flower. Download Slab Container

October 3-7

Comp Art-Students completed the creation of their very own sketchbooks. They will then create their first visual journal entry based on their goals and dreams for the future. This week we will also begin to learn how to draw in 1 point perspective.

Photography-Color shoots are due for critique on Wednesday, the 5th. We will then look at shutter speed and apeture. Students will then create an action shoot with stopped action, panning, and blurred motion.

Ceramics-1st period will begin their slab continers with a lid on Tuesday. 3rd period is completing an extra project, slab bottles with texture so they will begin slab containers on Thursday. We will be firing the kiln all week to glaze fire all of the coil pots for critique ASAP.
