GPS Algebra 8/24

Because of the extended homeroom we only got to do about half of what was planned.  You have one homework problem where you have to construct two box plots on the same axis AND compare the two like we did on today's warm up.  You also need to complete the WS/notes on the mean absolute deviation. 

For now, make sure you can do the PROCESS in completing the MAD even if you don't fully understand the concept.  On Friday we will use your results to further explore what the MAD tells us about the data.

Math 3 CS 8/24

Make sure you read the entry from 8/23 for Math3 CS.

For homework, please make sure you complete those 8 problems.  I will collect those and we will be sharing with the class.

All classes: Tutoring Schedule

In my syllabus I give morning tutoring times on Tuesday through Thursday 7:45 - 8:10.  Because I have duty I have to amend that to T-Th 7:45-8:10 white days only.  The Tuesday afternoon schedule is the same as posted in the syllabus.

If you have not yet completed your supply list, please do so as soon as possible.

Today we did a data collection activity in order create a box plot of the data.  Those of you who did not finish should turn this in at the BEGINNING of the next class. 

Also, just glancing at those of you who did turn it in, there were several people who did incomplete work but rushed through it and turned it in anyway.  Make sure that what you turn in represents YOUR best effort.

HW:  Finish your activity/plot.  Make sure you are careful with the graph using an appropriate scale and labeling the points.

Math 3 Core Support 8/23 (and 24)

Today in class we finished the notes on characteristics of functions.  Third period Blue is a little ahead of the rest so you got more time in class to practice.  4th period blue just finished the notes today.

If you did not finish the eight problems on the worksheet, you are to do so for homework.

GPS Algebra

We had much too much going on today.  We didn't finish nearly everything we needed to get done.  Next time we'll just have to get started that much earlier. 

If you did not get your book because your name was not in Pinnacle, I have turned in your name into the Guidance clerk.  Hopefully this issue will be resolved soon.  You will not need your book with you every day in class, but you will do work from home.  If you ever need the book in class, I will give you advance notice, perhaps on this blog.

Next time we finish box plots and Mean Absolute Deviation (MAD).

Math 3 CS 8/19 and 8/22

If you didn't get a copy of the notes on function families please see me.  All of these characteristics of functions are important.

You should be able to find the domain and range from the graph, identify the y-intercept, the zeros, intervals of increasing and decreasing any extrema (maxes or mins) and the end behavior.

Next time we will continue to practice with these characteristics of functions and begin to identify characteristics of parent functions.

Math 3 CS General Announcement

I just wanted clear up something that is still confusing some people.  Math 3 Core Support is NOT a support class for Math 3. 

In M3CS we are essentially preparing for the Graduation Test in Math. If you have passed the Math 1 EOCT or the Math 2 EOCT then you are exempt from the math portion of the graduation test.  You can still take M3CS for core credit but you cannot bypass Math 3.

I suggest you read the syllabus for more details.  It will be posted on this site very soon.

Don't forget to collect your supply list.  Please have your parents initial by all the materials you have acquired and turn in the list when it is complete.

I didn't set a deadline for having supplies but try to have the list completed by August 25/26.
