M.ALGII.4.2 Quadratic Equations: Solve The learner will be able to solve quadratic equations using various methods including factoring, completing the square, the quadratic formula, and graphing tools. |
EQ: How is the square completed of a quadratic equation?
Review quadratic graphs and square roots.
Instructions on completing the square to solve a quadratic equation; use vertex form of a quadratic function to locate the axis of symmetry of its graph
Informal Algebra II
M.ALGII.3.6 Relations: Identify/Functions
The learner will be able to identify, define and graph relations, and state their domain and range, identify relations that are functions. Name functions by using multiple representatives. Define functions, draw their graphs and evaluate for given values of x, (including absolute value function).
M.ALGII.4.2 Quadratic Equations: Solve
The learner will be able to solve quadratic equations using various methods including factoring, completing the square, the quadratic formula, and graphing tools. Analyze the nature of the roots of quadratic equations by using the discriminant and the relationship between roots and coefficients.
EQ: How do you solve square roots?
Solve quadratic equations by finding square roots.
Solve quadratic equations with complex solutions and perform operations with complex numbers
Geometry
M.GEOM.2.8 Formula: Distance and Midpoint
The learner will be able to apply the distance and midpoint formulas
M.GEOM.3.9 Lines/Angles: Identify
The learner will be able to identify, name, and define or describe properties associated with points (distance, between, collinear, coplanar), segments (midpoint, congruence, bisector) angle (bisector, congruence, interior, exterior) and lines and planes (perpendicular, parallel, intersecting).
M.GEOM.4.18 Angles: Parallel lines
The learner will be able to recognize parallel lines and planes, skew lines, and pairs of angles when two lines are cut by a transversal (alternate and same side, interior and exterior, corresponding).
M.GEOM.7.2 Reasoning: Recognize
The learner will be able to recognize valid deductive reasoning; constructs and use of if-then, converse, inverse and contrapositive statements
Why are the basics of geometry important?
