Happy Friday, Hope you had a great day!

Few reminders as we enter into our final two weeks before the opening of the dance concert. We have our show in exactly two weeks: May 13 and May 14.

Tee shirt list is up and the program needs to be checked for spelling, etc.

Please get with someone in your class if you are still having trouble with some of the choreography. We will get to use the stage next Wed. and will be in the theatre. Unfortunately, some of you will be in for a shock because you really don't know what you are doing.

Start checking for your clean tights, shoes, etc. for the show and the Monday and Tuesday following are your juries.

As we start to go into show week, rehearsals and juries, there will be a lot going on. Stay focused and use your energy wisely toward your goals.

First reminder: If you want a tee shirt, check the list on the wall and be sure to bring your money in by Wed.

As I have told all the classes, you need to know your nine body postions. There is absolutely NO way out of this. Take a moment and find a way that works best for you to know these. There are multiple ways to learn them.

Don't forget Macbeth opens tonight and throughout the weekend.

Good learning today...but how long can you remember it? If you really learned something, it will be there when you need it. Prepare for success for tomorrow and complete your short homework assignment tonight. I know many of you are used to having someone tell you what to do all the time, but there comes a time when you need to start thinking for yourself. The time is now...not the night before your exams.

As I told Tuesday's classes, if you don't know your nine body positions after taking a minimum of one year of dance, shame on you. Don't tell anyone that you have been dancing for a year! They will think that you are not being truthful with how long you have been training.

Was today as challenging for you as it was for me? Some of you copy movements really well but have no idea of what you are doing. You can only go so far like this while everyone else will pass you by because they are understanding what they are trying to do. By understanding what you are trying to do, you will be using the right muscles and musicality to get the results you are wanting.

****There is absolutely no way out of not knowing your body positons and having been in dance for the minimum of one year!**** Do you know your nine body positions? How well do you really know them?

So as you see, we are stepping it up a little. Be prepared to show the combinations tomorrow in the center with four body postions. This is your chance to see that you are ready  and truly have an understanding of the main concepts in dance. As we head into the Juries and the dance concert, this is for you. Use this time wisely and try the best you can so that you will accomplish your goals and make progress.

Don't forget Macbeth is this week and thoughout the weekend!

Enjoy your nice Easter Weekend coming up.

Please retain your choreography from class to class. Sometimes it is just a matter of doing a quick mental rehearsal and review to keep it fresh and then when you are dancing there is not a delay in trying to remember the choreography.

Ms. Mora and I will continue to provide you with opportunities to clarify the information that you are learning so the end of the year activities will go smoothly and enjoyable for you to do your best.

I heard many good comments on the classes today. As I mentioned, this might take a "minute" and then your knowledge would click in. If it was difficult, be patient. It will get easier and we will continue to do this - the transition from the barre to the center should go smothly. I have to be careful that you don't loose your technique from the barre into the center when you are trying to get the head and arms and the leg just moves without the dynamics.

Body positions clearer? We will chip away at this!

********ComPAny audition forms are due next Friday, April 29. I highly recommend that they are turned in before then, if you want to make a good impression!

A little slow today for most of you. We all have those days but how you respond to them is very important. One overall consistant problem that I observed today was where is your second tendu position? Remember that it is your position, not someone else's. It is time to be truthful to yourself. Go to the position where you can work and get better. It takes time.

Tomorrow, we will take all that you learned and reviewed and dance it in the center and add all the body positions, arms and head. I think more of you will have a much more thorough understanding of what your goals are and can see how everything that I am giving becomes very important for your progress.

So did you have any  moments of "I got it" or that makes sense today? Most of you did! As "painful" as it was for you, this is amazingly important information for you. I hope by transferring the information from the barre that you were able to see how it is used in the center. We are specifically referring to the concepts. We are not only referring to steps and combinations but the bigger concerns.

I was truly impressed at how quickly you were able to sort through and get the head, arms, and body positions as you recalled the combinations from the barre! That is great!

For those of you testing tomorrow: study! This is important! We are only giving you what you must know for your future!

P.S. I realized that I spelled "boarder" incorrectly from yesterday. I should have spelled the word as "border".

Dancers: This is not a time to get "spring Fever" or Senioritis. As hard as it may be right now, there are about 6 more weeks before we are finished with this year. Some of you are on the boarder with your grades and these next weeks will determine your final grade. We have the concert, juries, quizzes, etc.

Hopefully, we will be able to make more progress tomorrow. The more we get to review and learn, the better you will do on your juries. Juries are the physical portion of you your exam and also are used in regards to changing your major. It is a good benchmark to see your progress for the year and to see where you should be placed for the following year.

The more advanced you are the quicker you can change your weight and demonstrate musicality while dancing.
