What are great day you had today. For those of you that had a class with Tyler Hanes, I hope you really enjoyed it! It is always so exciting to have alumns return and give back to the Brook. Remember that you can always check out all the Broadway shows, movies, projects, etc. that he has accomplished.

From the historical perspective, Fosse...you need to know about this historical jazz founder. I hope by experiencing some of his choreography, you will be more intrigued to discover more about this legion.

Great News: Broadwayworld.com ...yes, all information about Broadway and performers, from Broadway, New York has an article on our Gala that will be next Monday! I have a feeling it is because so many of the students that are performing at the Gala have been on Broadway....check out the article...What an honor! They also have links to some of the returning performers. There are more performers that are not listed.

Our new unit is about "Connecting Steps". Some of you may think you know what I am talking about ...many of you are about to learn new things!!

Don't forget about our adjusted schedule tomorrow for Homecoming

   Report to Homeroom for the Pep Rallys, then 4th period, 3rd period, and then 2nd period, then 5th .

Thanks for attending PTSA last night. I enjoyed meeting many of the freshmen parents and communicating with the parents of the "older" students.

I hope that you are able to see that the level of your dance class has progressed. Be patient with yourself and go for the challenges. You will progress just by trying different and new movements. I know that you feel comfortable with doing the same things but there is so much to learn that we willl continually be moving forward.

Way to work in your classes today! First period did a full class and prepared for the PTSA tonight. I look forward to meeting all of your parents tonight. Second period: way to hustle in your class and you learned so many new things in such a short amount of time!! Third period: it took a few minutes to get you going...but good job once you got going. We did have some great questions. But the bottom line on this class is for YOU to remember your corrections and maybe these issues that are occurring within your body will not be happening. Fourth period: great work today. Yes, I know you are finding and using muscles but we are stepping it up another level. Remember this is not a beginner level and you are attempting advanced steps which are considered advanced in any ballet class.

REMINDER: GALA next Monday night, do your self a favor and preorder the tickets now.

                 Performing Arts College Fair is next week, Tuesday BE THERE! Papa will get you some Chick-fil-a with the forms that are provided in each studio. This way you can stay at school.

      Don't foget the clean up day on Sat. with Community Service hours.

Hope you had a good weekend. If you are not busy tonight, please go see ComPAny at the Fair tonight. It is only $5.00 for a wonderful performance and plenty of rides!

We are now starting our next unit in class. I hope you were able to describe and understand more about what this next unit will be about. During class we talked about the answer. Do you remember the answer to the essential question?

You will get the results back from your performance test as soon as everyone has tested.

Gala tickets are on sale for $15.oo for next Monday night!!! Make plans..you should not miss this amazing event!!

Each year, the National Association of College Admissions Counseling organizes a Performing and Visual Arts College Fair that tours the United States. Representatives from the major performing arts colleges, universities, and conservatories from around the country will be in Atlanta on Tuesday, October 4. This year’s fair is being held at PEBBLEBROOK HIGH SCHOOL from 7:00 – 9:00 PM that evening. The event will be held in the Betty Gray Enrichment Center. This is an EXCELLENT opportunity to learn more about your options for performing arts education after you graduate from Pebblebrook. It’s also a chance to learn about summer programs. This fair is not just for seniors. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors should plan to attend as well. If you have one, please wear a Pebblebrook Performing Arts shirt on that evening. It works in our favor to “make our presence known.” I hope many of you will plan to attend.

Happy Friday!

  I hope you learned a lot today. From your questions and comments, I think you learned a lot about the importance of water and how tight most of you are and that you need to strech more. Don't be surprised if you are sore tomorrow. For many of you, you used muscles that you have never used or stretched our before. Remember how important and the relationship of water to your soreness.

Happy Thursday,

  For most of you, you have finished your performance test. As soon as everyone has finished testing, I will return the tests and we will review. Because you body positions are used continuously, I am certain that we will have more tests that use these positions.

  As a reminder, Mr. Davis will not be here tomorrow. I will have all of the Purple group al day, through fifth period. This does include 4th period, NOW.

Good classes today. Don't forget that your Body Position Performance test is tomorrow. Think through all of the corrections that you have been given. If you have placed your corrections in your notebook, you are a step ahead at being able to remember and apply your corrections. We will do our complete barre before we start the testing since many of the graded areas are used at the barre: legs turned out, feet pointed, head used correctly, and arms.

Take a moment to review all the positions tonight so you will be ready. Good luck!

Also, don't forget about our Dance "Basket" items that we talked about in fifth period yesterday. Some of the items have already been sent in! Congrats to Joshua Beal for being the first to make a large donation!

How was the testing for you today? Once everyone has tested, you will get your rubric back so you can see how you did on your performance. These positions are not something you memorize but something you will use as long as you dance. (So they are at least used for the rest of this year.) You will be tested on these in multiple ways. Sometimes you will have vocabulary testing and sometimes you will have an actual performance of these positions. These are your ABCs of dance! I will start grading these today. After what I observed as I graded you individually, some of you just have small mistakes and others don't have any idea of the positions.

If you ever decide to audition for anything, you will be glad that you know how to do these correctly. You will be chosen over someone else that does not know them. It is that simple. Even if you don't know how to do the combinations, you will at least know how to start and finish the combination.

Good Monday...good job today in concentrating and focusing so that we were able to review for your testing tomorrow. Most of you were able to push through with what you thought you did not know, but it came to you as you started dancing. Please try to continue to trust yourself and try to solve your answers. Even if you make a mistake, that is an opportunity for you to know that you have not gained either mental or physical memory and you can learn what is missing in your training.

If you are still not sure of your positions, get in front of a mirror or grab a classmate to help you with the head, arms. legs, direction etc.
