Happy Halloween!

Yes, you were certainly up for the challenge today! We need to keep this pace and push through to finishing your dance. REMEMBER that you can grab a friend that knows your dance from your class or the other Purple or Yellow class and practice. Keep checking the schedule and if you are having trouble, get with someone!

As we are finishing the next six weeks unit, grades will be coming out from all the teachers. Do you know how you have been doing or are you assuming......check Pinnacle and make sure that there are never any surprises.

Once again, I am going to say to you that you need to review your dance concert choreography before you come to class....basically: PREPARE FOR SUCCESS!!! Think about how much you are able to learn while you are in class that is new each week and how much time we spend reviewing from the previous week. One of the best parts about reviewing is that you have an entire class in the other room full of people that have already learned what you need to learn. Grab a friend or buddy, check out the studio and get to work.

YOU and YOUR PART matters to the success of your dance, the success of your class, and the success of the concert. Where we you be in this process?

Work the next few days in your classes as I will be on the college trip to Point Park and Carneige Mellon. The students will be taking all types of classes and visiting and taking college classes to see if they want to attend when they graduate. We are also fortunate in being able to see an alum in "Chorus LIne".

I have to say the 4th period dancers, we were the hardest working dancers today. They finished their dances! All of you all did quite well today. I think you were able to see how important it is when your fellow classmates are absent. So many of them were at the Teacher of the Year Pep Rally. Congrats goes to Ms. White, our Vocal teacher, for being Pebblebrook High School's Teacher of the Year!

I found today, that last night Tyler Hanes, our alum and who was just here for the Gala Celebration, was on tv for the "Dancing With The Stars" show last night. I hope you were able to see him!

Also, your grade has been placed into Pinnacle for your journal. I hope you will pull  that grade up. I AM GIVING YOU TIME IN CLASS to do this assignment.

I am glad to hear that many of your auditions went well with "Hairspray" .

For most of you, good work today. If you know your steps and choreography then the "good work today" applies to you! But if you can't go through the choreography on your own, then you need to practice! I do see many of you watching other people and you will never know that you don't know the choreography if you don't practice on your own time. A quick reminder is that mental rehearsal, visualizing the sequence and steps is just like you are rehearsing so there is no excuse to not rehearse.

We are at the point now that some of you are starting to panic a little bit because you have not rehearsed and are getting behind. Learn from that moment in class where you know you can get it if you had a little more time. The time is yours and the time is now. PRACTICE!!

As we are soon finishing the second six weeks, make sure that you have made up all of your work. Check with your teachers. Remember once a unit has completed, no more make up work is allowed for that unit.

Happy Friday! I hope you had a good day. I know we have talked about the opportunities that await you this weekend: Georgia Ballet at the Cobb Civic Center on Sat. night and Sunday afternoon.

  Also, Atlanta Ballet is performing at the Cobb Energy Center this weekend. That both have amazing dances that you will eventually be studying or have already studied, depending on your level as a dancer. This is not a requirement, I am simply letting you know they are here in your backyard. One does not have to travel very far to get the same opportunities as flying to NY or out of the state. If you have never seen a live ballet, you should experience it so you will realize what you are doing is similar to the professionals.

On your dance floor, your concert choreography should be reviewed daily! You still have the opportunity to  check out dance studios if you need extra rehearsals.

Few reminders:

Atlanta Ballet this weekend at the Cobb Energy Center

Georgia Ballet this weekend on Sat. and Sunday at the Cobb Civic Center

Continue thinking and exploring how those connecting steps will help you achieve your goals in dance. Technique is how you do a step but technique is not a connecting step. One uses technique to facilitate the step. For second period today, remember the analogy: if you have two pieces of paper (the dance steps) and you have glue (the Connecting step) you would put them together to get the finished project  or the finished combination.

WORK on your dance concert combinations!!!

Great job today! Please remember the new choreography as we will continue adding on each time I see you. I am mentioning this because I see some of you not remembering the steps; just after seeing you less than 24 hours earlier. The next time I see you, I will pick up where we left off and will continue until we finish your piece.

Your nine weeks assessment will be tomorrow! We are officially half way through the first semester. Are you keeping up? DO NOT WAIT to talk to  Ms. Mora or myself if you need help. Don't forget to bring your writing pencils with you. We will have the paper and test that you need.

Here we go! Now that we have officially started your dance concert pieces, you must practice your choreography. There is no time for you to return to class and not know your choreography. We have a lot of work today. The more prepared you are for your classes, the better your concert piece will be...we will have time to take it to the next level and not stay at a basic level. Do your part and don't be left behind!

Big Daddy test is tomorrow and Thursday, are you ready???

I saw many of the "Mock" tests..some of those were truely awesome!!!

Welcome to Friday! Most of you should feel good about the work you did this week. We had a few rough spots but we quickly learned from them and moved on to the next level. Please continue reviewing your new dance steps from the week so we can continue with your dance piece next week.
