Today students had the opportunity to do test corrections on the Module 1 test.  Students should show mastery of the standards related to the historical foundations after the corrections.

After the test students worked on their Influential Person Reports that were assigned on Friday of last week.  They will need to be ready to present on Thursday, September 2.

The next topic is Personality Theory.  We will start that unit on Thursday, September 2 and will be working in Modules 25-27.  The self test for Module 25 is due on Thursday, September 2.

Today was used as an enrichment day reviewing the concepts of Chapter 1. All students received a review sheet for this chapter. If it wasn't done and turned in at the end of class it needs to be completed for Wednesday, September 1. 

All Declaration of Independence essays should have been turned in.

Next topic is The Constitution.

Today we did an activity demonstrating Overconfidence.

We discussed the Descriptive methods of research.

Students received the Survey assignment that is due on 9/10.  All topics must be preDownload Survey Project Research and Methods-approved by 9/1.

August 26, 2010

Today we reviewed the basic foundations of government.  Students got back their foldables and graphic organizers.

We backtracked to make sure we understand where the concepts of limited government and separation of pwers came from by completing the graphic organizer that is posted below.

We discussed the Declaration of Independence and it's ideas by answering the questions on the PowerPoint slide posted below.  All students need to do the persuasive essay declaring their independence by Monday.

Today we discussed the introduction to Chapter 1 on Research Methods.  We started class by watching a video from the Discovering Psychology series that is available on www.learner.org.

After the video and discussion about what we learned and what we still have questions about, we began the PowerPoint for this section. 

Vocabulary for Chapter 1 is due on Monday, August 30.

Today classes were very short due to Early Release.  We reviewed the scenario applying the concepts of the Current Perspectives.  We created a collage based on the assigned topic.  All students received a crossword puzzle for review.

Students present today were able to check out a book for them to use at home as well as the class sets we have in class.

Students finished their foldable on the types of governments and economic systems.  We read the Preamble to the Declaration of Independence.  You need to answer the 6 questions and then do the activity where you create your own Declaration of Independence by Thursday's class.

All students present today were able to check out a textbook. They need to bring them every day!

Everyone turned in their prologue quiz. Students were able to work in groups on questions that they were not sure about the answer.

We previewed Chapter 1.  All vocabulary for Chapter 1 is due on Monday, August 28.

All students that were present in class went to check out a book.  All students will need to bring their to  class each day.

Today we finished discussing the Historical and Contemorary Perspectives and students have an application activity to complete for Wednesday.
