Download Classical conditioningToday we began a new unit on learning and cognition.  See standards on the attached document.

We reviewed the fun activity about superstitions and being an optimist and pessimist as a tie in to how we learn things.  We took notes on Module 15 and classical conditioning.  1st period began the activity where you will be assigned a topic and can write a song, poem, rap, or story or draw it.  2nd and 3rd period will do this on Monday.  2nd period watched the following videos: Thorndike's Puzzle box, Watson's Little Albert, and Pavlov's dogs.

Today we finally had our election!  We had a 76% voter turnout and our President is Pedro Gonzalez!  Congratulations to Pedro and the other candidates.

We continued our unit of study with the House and Senate today.

Today we began the study of Chapter 5- Sensation.  Vocabulary is due for this chapter on Friday, October 29.

We completed a T/F as an anticipation guide to indicate what we might know and to gain interest in the subject.  We also completed various visual perception tests and viewed various illusions to demonstrate some of the concepts that we will be studying.

1st period- make sure that you turn in your chapter 3 final writing assignment by Friday, the 29th.  3rd period most of you turned it in already.

Test corrections are still a possibility for the Chapter 1-2 test. Just tell me that you are coming!

I was not present at school today.  I was attending the Teacher of the Year Breakfast and Pep Rally.

Assignments left for students:

1.  Fun page (introduction to learning)

2.  Read Module 15 and complete the self test

3.  Read Module 16 and complete the self test

We are beginning a new unit with new standards as noted on the board in the classroom.

Today we had our debate and watched our commercials for the 3 candidates.  A special thanks to Pedro Gonzalez, Destanye Hogan and Carlos Rogers for their participation and letting me put them on the spot.  Fantastic job on the commercials.  Thank you to the members of the audience for your attention and respect today.

We will allow 2-3 minutes per candidate on Wednesday for closing information and then vote.

We need to continue with Unit 2 as soon as we are done with the election.

Today we finished discussing Nurture.

We participated in an activity on Evolutionary Psychology.

Final writing assignment attached.  (3rd period worked on it in class.)

Please make sure that you do an online quiz for chapter 3 by the end of the week.  Either print me the results or email them to me yourself!

ALL CLASSES WATCHED THE STANFORD PRISON EXPERIMENT VIDEO- QUIET RAGE.  BONUS POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR ANYONE THAT BRINGS IN A SUMMARY OR LIST OF WAYS THAT ETHICS IN RESEARCH WERE VIOLATED WITH THIS EXPERIMENT.

1st period- watched video (short class after pep rally)

3rd period- video and then I Can statements from the Standard #2.

2nd period- same as 3rd
