Today we reviewed the major points of the unit on Development: Kohlberg's Moral Development, Piaget's Cognitive Development, Erikson's Psychosocial Development and a few other concepts.

The next unit is on Cognition and Memory and we will be working in Modules 18 and 19.  We played various memory games today that previewed that information covering chunking, serial position affect, eidetic imagery, acoustic encoding and visual encoding.

The next current event is due on December 9th.  Find anything that is going on the world that is related to Psychology and follow the posted format.

Students worked together in groups of 4 or less to complete the Unit 2 test together.  They were also able to use their worksheets and study guide for assistance.

We will start Unit 3- The Judicial Branch after the break.

 

November 18, 2010

Warm up- use 5 words from Chapter 6 to create a story or situation.

Spent about 40 minutes making sure groups were ready to present.

Sensation and Perception presentations.

HOMEWORK- COMPLETE 1 ONLINE QUIZ FOR CHAPTER 5 AND 1 ONLINE QUIZ FOR CHAPTER 6.

Students had all class period today to complete their Think-Tac-Toe on Development.

I was absent for 3rd period but saw lots of work turned into the folder!  :)

Today's warm up was matching pictures of various presidents to their presidential role.

Class today consisted of playing Find it and Fix it with the Chapter 8 and 10 review sheets.

Homework was the study guide for the Unit 2 test on Friday.

Class started today with everyone reading the story "World Without Pain" and writing a personal response.

Students then had all class period to work on the Chapter 5-6 projects.  They should be ready to present their Public Service Announcements, Commercials, skits, games, etc. on Friday.

All chapter 5 and 6 study guides should be turned in by now.

Students took a group test on Module 15-17 on the learning unit. They were able to use their grahic organizers from all 3 modules and use each other to answer the questions.  Here are the class averages:

1st period- 76%

2nd period- 78%

3rd period- 72%

Today class started with a final reading on Learning.  There were 3 questions and students should have turned it in before they left.

We are starting a new unit on Development.  This covers Modules 4-6 and the Standard:

SSPBC3- Describe behavioral, social, and cognitive changes from the prenatal period throughout the lifespan.

Students will complete a Think-Tac-Toe for this unit.  Download Development TTT  This is due on Thursday, November 18th.

There is an opportunity for extra-credit.  Any student that chooses to do this assignment will get credit but it is NOT mandatory.  This will be due by Friday, November 17th.

Today's warm up was interpreting a political cartoon.

Today's assignment was identifying the Cabinet positions and government agencies.

Today's warm up was to choose any 5 words from Chapter 6 and create a short/quick story or scenario so that you can demonstrate understanding of those words.

The rest of class was devoted to working on the chapter 5-6 project on Sensation and Perception.

Please turn in any missing study guides for chapter 5 or 6 or the crossword puzzle.
